The Swiss-Romanian GI project aimed at supporting Romanian institutional and economic stakeholders in building a differentiation process for agricultural and agri-food products through the consolidation of the GI protection system in order to allow small and medium scale farming systems to become or remain economically, socially and environmentally viable.
Outcome 1:
Further expanding the GI concept to a core group of institutions and persons, tailored to the Romanian socio-economic context.
Outcome 2:
Enable the administration to deliver quality services corresponding to an effective GI protection system.
Outcome 3:
Enable Romanian GI producers and processors to prepare applications for the registration of their GIs and to organize the marketing of their products in line with consumers’ expectations. A small number of GIs shall be ready to apply for registration, in line with Romanian and EU procedure and with the objective to avoid later opposition.
